idrk if this is the right place to post this but I'm going to anyway. every time I'm hitting my top speed I can feel the car stopping from going faster than 124 when the top speed should be 154. Is there something in the computer I need to turn off? What's the deal

I believe the non performance pack cars are limited to (I guess 124 wasn't sure of the number). I've heard the performance pack cars are limited to 143

All non performance pack ecoboost Mustangs have a top speed of 121mph(ish, speedometer calibration/accuracy will cause some variation).
The performance pack mustang ecoboosts have a larger radiator, larger brakes, summer only tires and a track oriented suspension, with these features ford allows the car to reach 145mph.
The new 2020 special high performance edition mustang ecoboost will have a top speed of 155mph.
The speed limiter can be removed through a tune. With a custom tune and the limiter removed the car in any trim is capable of 160+mph.
The Ford racing tune does not modify the factory set speed limiter.

What they said...
Where did you hear that your car should hit 154mph?

As I understand it, the governed limit is what the tires are rated for. So if you eliminate the governor, make sure you have tires that are capable of higher speeds.

As a non performance pack guy, I can confirm the limiter is 121 without a tuner removal.

In the case of the mustang the factory Goodyear all seasons will handle well over 120mph. Fords main concerns were with the cooling systems ability to keep the engine cool at sustained high high speeds and the poor braking performance of the two piston base model brakes, the pogo stick base suspension has poor manners at very high speeds as well.
I tested my tuned base model 2017 up to 137 mph and completely understand fords reasoning, car got hot, bounced all over and the brakes quickly heat soaked when trying to slow down.

Yeah. After a few high-speed runs with my base suspension and brakes I'm not feeling the love. Definitely chassis and brake work in the future.
The main reason I didn't choose the FP tune is because the limiter stayed but I can understand why they kept it.

My 2017 with the Ford tune and CAI along with Magnaflow exhaust, has been just over 140 MPH several times, I didn't know it was limited to 145 but it sure did have any soft spots to 140! That's faster than any of the V8 powered cars I've owned, including a GTO, Roadrunner, Turbo Mitsubishi Eclipse, and a hopped up 302 in a 78 Mustang II. It handled 140 like my other cars handled 110, it was a bargain for sure!

Ford limits top speed at 125 mph , remove limiter

I've only gotten it to 123 without a tune

Performance pack with custom tune. Not reached limit yet. But have been over 220kms or 136mph before I ran out of road.

What Horcy1 said. PP with custom tune, I know I hit 145 at the end of the long straight at Circuit of the Americas when I hit the brakes for the left hander at turn 12.

It can also depend on the final drive ratio your car has.

Yup. Me too. Ran out of balls before I ran out of throttle

I'm sure that I've read here or at M6G that the stock driveshaft is a weak point at higher speeds too.

I have heard that in relation to the v6 S197 Mustangs but not the S550 regardless of engine.
Dave
So I have a '17 ecoboost performance package, 6-speed manual. And I've hit 130 in 5th gear at 5k RPMs and still had the over drive gear. No chip. Just a k&n filter, resonator delete with some magnaflows. I wanna know how the chip/tune would do. Hear it adds like 70hp to the wheels

It will remove the 145mph limit on the PP. Good gains can be had with just about any aftermarket tune and even more with a custom tune with supporting mods.
